The celebration of Imbolc originates from the Celts. Imbolc symbolizes the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.
The word "imbolc" means "in the belly of the Mother," because the seeds of spring are beginning to stir in the belly of Mother Earth. It's a time to celebrate the return of the light, and the rising sun, as we slowly leave behind the long cold nights of winter and bear witness to the very first signs that spring is on its way. Imbolc is a symbol of rebirth and transformation.
