How Ayurveda can help you to live a healthy life

It all started about 2 months ago, when I had a chat with my dear friend Puja for a potential interview for the blog. We had a lovely chat about Ayurveda and then she said: “if you ever feel out of balance, not yourself, give me a call, I’m happy to help”.

The timing couldn’t be better. A week later, I had a massive “tantrum”, like slamming doors, crying and shouting at my husband. It reminded me of the insecure, needy, angry, hysterical person I used to be before the mindfulness / self-development work I’ve done for the past 5 years.

This time it was different though. Rather than keep arguing until exhaustion I asked him to leave the room and I spent the following 2 hours looking out of the bedroom window in complete silence.

In stillness, I could be in the feelings of rage, sadness, abandonment which were cropping up in that moment. Then, I started journaling. After a few pages, as sometimes happens, I had an Ah-ah moment! I was finally able to connect those feelings to a specific event in my childhood, when I was roughly 8 years old. That evening, I felt like all those afternoons when I was waiting for my dad to pick me up from the tennis lessons and he was always late. Rage, sadness and abandonment is what I felt back then. Different people, different situation, same feelings. Ah ah!

The following day I called Puja.

She was so lovely and supportive! After the initial 1hr consultation she prescribed me some herbs, home made remedies, a list of food to eat (and not to eat) and some amazing recipes.

I followed this regimen for 6 weeks and the results were above expectations. Not only I felt grounded, calm and able to respond (rather than react) to the stressed of everyday life. I ALSO experienced less cravings and my libido skyrocketed (yes, I said that!).

A little disclaimer here...I’m not saying that Ayurveda is magic and that it will solve all your problems, BUT like every other thing, it’s a tool at your disposal which can support you from a physical and mental point of view. If you're curious about it, give it a try and see by yourself!

Coming back to the beginning of the story...the interview with Puja did happen. To learn what Ayurveda is and how it works check out this VIDEO. Enjoy!

For the record, lunch was delicious!
